Bump on the tongue, what is it, and I did not inform a slump!?

You know, the little sore bumps that crop up on the tongue, my grandmother always said you catch a tongue when you tell a lie back, cute huh? But what is it really? They just appear every once within a great while, so small you cant see it, and are gone in a light of day or so. Just wondering.
