Seeds
Seeds are competent to be stored for years, some can be eaten unprepared and some can be cooked. They have a all-embracing balance and if you are within a long term survival situation after you can begin to grow your own food.
Jerky and other dried up food are good for the short permanent status but you will suffer nutrition and health issues (think gout) if you try to survive on it long occupancy. Ideally you should have some confidently portable foods like shaky for the beginning but if the world we know ever comes to ruin the people who survive are the one prepared to verbs living.
Don't stress about meat because they are around in oodles forms when you needs it but seed can bring about a stability for the adjectives.
Water is important but you can't store adequate for your needs long possession. You really need to stock up on multiple ways to provide potable dampen from any source and containers. Try not to rely on one thing that could break or chemicals that you might discover regular use of might shoot you (like iodine). Water can be found in abundant unusual places tree sap for example.
