its where on earth your umbilical cord was connected to you when you be just a wee little fetus. depending how it looks depends on how the doctors cut it. if you closed it...the world would stop spinning.

Is it possible to "close up" your belly button?
It was simply where on earth the umbilacle (sp?) connected you to momma. There is no other use or reason.
Closing it up would do nought but look strange.
As far as I know, they're just the remaining from your connection to your mother surrounded by the womb. I don't think anything would arise if you plugged it up, it might smell though.
Hahaha belly buttons have no point, but when you be in your mother's stomach your belly button be your umbilical cord, which was the path you were feed.
The belly buttons have no specific perpose. except for when you be in your mother whomb. thats be your cord was cut. And that cord be to feed you. Its resembling a tube coming out of your body that got tied and scar over.
your belly button is to give your child nutrition when you are pregnant; it is already closed up; never play beside it, very insanitary!
Belly buttons are for collecting lint. If you were to close it up, you'd hold lint falling down the front of your pants.
